Summer Ballet Technique: Beginning/Intermediate

Youth Programming / Youth Recreation / CPA Dance -
Summer 2024

Whether you are a dance team member or just desires to study ballet for the foundational skills to apply to other dance styles, it all begins at the ballet barre where the foundation of technical movement is set. This class is rooted in the Vaganova barre technique where students will grow in placement awareness, strength, flexibility, fluidity in movement, and muscular control. We will focus our center study on balance, turns, spotting, and leap skills. The study of ballet helps with step transitions, improves body alignment, and teaches control of turns and jumps. Most importantly it teaches you how to avoid injury due to bad body placement. Ballet is a classical art where repetition is the key to maintain and improve one’s skills.

Attire: Black leotard, tights, or other athletic fitted dance wear (No crop tops). Pink stretch canvas ballet shoes or jazz shoes. Hair securely pulled back and no jewelry.

Beginning/Intermediate (Grades 4-7) Students new to ballet/dance, or those who have had some previous ballet training.
